St. Vincent's Snapshot - December 2024 Everything to Look Forward to in December 2024
Advent is upon us! As we prepare the way for the Lord, we find new ways to make space for the Word in our homes and in our hearts. Our prayers are for a peaceful and joyful season for all, both near and far.
If you're unable to join us in person, we continue to make our Masses available online, both as recordings and through Facebook livestreams. No matter where you are, you are always welcome to join us at the Table.
The Immaculate Conception
Monday, Dec. 9, 5pm
The Immaculate Conception expresses the belief that Mary was free from sin from the beginning of her life. Mary in the image of the Immaculate Conception is the patroness of our country and our diocese. Liturgical ministers needed; volunteer through the MSP portal.
Advent, the beginning of a new liturgical year, standing on the threshold of a new calendar year invites us to reflect on where we have been and where we would like to be going in our spiritual lives. These services will provide some respite from the frantic pace of holiday preparations and an opportunity to do some spiritual housecleaning ahead of the Christmas season.

Faith Formation at Any Age

Advent Family Faith Formation Day:
Giving God Your Best Yes
Join us for lunch, followed by music, faith sharing, crafts, and more as we hear about Mary's "yes" that changed everything. All are welcome! Please register if your family is not already part of our PK-12 Faith Formation program.
Art Retreat:
Drawing the Light
Are you feeling the darkness of this season? How can we honor this as the hopeful season of awaiting our savior's birth? Using charcoal we will explore both the light of advent and the darkness of the season. Friday, Dec. 6 from 9am-2:30pm.
Junior Choir
If your child or teen wishes to sing or play their instrument at our 4pm Christmas Eve Mass, rehearsals will be on Dec. 15 and 22 following the 11am Mass and will last about 30 minutes each. Those wishing to play an instrument should contact Marie Bernadett before the first rehearsal.
Nativity Tableau
If your child or teen would like to be part of the nativity tableau or the liturgy during Mass, there's room for all! Sign up for specific roles via the Google Doc linked below; if you have questions, please contact Ellen Kueterman.

VBS: Holiday Special
Join us for a one-night special feature of VBS for the holidays! We're bringing July to Christmas with an evening of VBS fun in the Parish for kids and teens. We'll have dinner, do crafts, and enjoy the meaning of the season while parents get the evening off for shopping, friends, or relaxation.
Friday, Dec. 13, 5-9pm. $10 per child/teen; includes dinner.
Giving Tree
This annual program provides gift cards to families who are guests of our Food Pantry with children 12 and under during the holiday season. Your generous donations help underwrite the cost to the parish and make all of this possible - thank you!
African Descendants
This gathering to uplift the spiritual life of people of African ancestry within our community will be held Sunday, Dec. 22 in the Parish Hall after the 11am Mass.
Decorating the Church
Join us to decorate the Church for Christmas on Sunday, Dec. 22 at 12:15pm after the Mass. All are welcome; many hands make light work!
Homebound Gift Giving
Signups for delivering gifts to parishioners who are homebound or in nursing homes will begin Dec. 7, with delivery the week of Dec. 14. Please consider giving the gift of your time to a fellow parishioner!

Elementary Faith Formation
No classes on Dec. 15, 22, or 29 for the holidays. We'll see you back in the classroom on Jan. 5!
Office Hours
The parish offices will be closed on Dec. 23-25, open Dec. 26, then closed from Dec. 27-Jan 1. We will reopen on Jan 2.
Bereavement
The bereavement group will meet on Wednesday, Dec. 18 at 7pm in the lounge.

New Year's Day Mass
Solemnity of the Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God
Wednesday, January 1, 10am
The Solemnity of Mary, Mother of God, is celebrated every year on Jan. 1, New Year’s Day, to honor Mary’s role as the mother of Jesus Christ. The day is set aside to reflect on the role of Mary as a model of faith and obedience to God’s will. It also emphasizes the importance of Jesus’ birth and his nature as both divine and human.
Youth Day
We're looking forward to seeing our 6-12th graders for lunch and to share the Word of God on Sunday, Jan. 5 after the 11am Mass.
Personal Care Collection
Our collection of personal care items for the Food Pantry will be the weekend of January 11-12.
