Hospitality
The Church of St. Vincent de Paul offers Elementary Faith Formation sessions for children in grades K-5.
Our sessions meet on Sunday mornings, 9:45 am-10:45 am, September through April (excluding holiday and school vacation weekends) at St. Vincent’s Parish Center located at 984 Madison Ave, approximately 1/2 block west of St. Vincent’s Church.
Our goal is to provide a comfortable setting where children will learn about God, our Christian Heritage and how to live out the Bible message.
Preparation for the sacraments of Reconciliation and Eucharist is offered for families with children in Grade 2 and older.
Children attending Catholic School or Faith Formation at other parishes are welcome to participate in any of our service opportunities or Family Faith Formation Days. This is a great way to stay connected to the Parish. Children attending Catholic School may also celebrate Sacraments at St. Vincent's, please email Ellen, [email protected] for more information.
Resources for families may be found on the Albany Diocese’s website at rcda.org.
In the Roman Catholic Diocese of Albany, children are prepared and receive Eucharist for the first time in the 2nd Grade. Children learn about this sacrament during their Faith Formation sessions (September through May) and through workshops and service experiences. Children are also prepared for and receive the Sacrament of Reconciliation prior to reception of Eucharist.
The Church of St. Vincent de Paul also welcomes older children and adults wishing to receive these sacraments. Learn more about adult initiation here.
Preparation for the sacrament for children celebrating the sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time, normatively takes place in Grade 2. Children and their families attend classes and a workshop during the fall semester of each year.
