A Place of
Courageous Hospitality
Hospitality
Faith is a journey from birth to death. The journey is complex, different for each traveler. St. Vincent’s offers several opportunities to learn about and grow in our faith, including talks, seminars, book discussions, and bible studies. We hope that the following resources will help you in this growth.
For more information about any of these programs, please contact Dave Rowell at 729-4550 or daverowell52@gmail.com.
Our fall book discussion will be on Cynthia Bourgeault’s Meaning of Mary Magdalene -
Discovering the Woman at the Heart of Christianity. Was Jesus’ most important disciple a
woman? The book is a thoughtful and provocative analysis of the evidence by one of today’s
most respected contemplative teachers. It is an excellent opportunity to get a better
understanding about Mary Magdalene and her role as “Apostle to the Apostles” and the nature of
Christian mysticism. Bourgeault is an Episcopal priest who leads lectures, workshops, and
retreats across the United States and is the author of several other books including The Wisdom
Jesus and Centering Prayer and Inner Awakening.
The discussion will be spread over five sessions on Sundays, November 10, 17, and 24 and
December 1, and 15 at 9:45AM in Meeting Room 1. For the first session on November 10 th ,
please read Part I, Chapters 1 to 3. People are encouraged to bring their questions and
observations to each of the discussions.
The book may be purchased at the Book House in Stuyvesant Plaza as a “book club” entity for
$16.37 (including tax). You should mention “book club” when purchasing the book to get the
discount rate.
